Guest Lecture on ‘Study on the Sun”

The Department of Aeronautical Engineering, MVJCE in association with the Astronomy club organized a Guest Lecture on ‘Study on the Sun” from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm, on 25th October, 2019. Prof. Dr. Dipankar Banerjee an Astrophysicist, working in the Indian Institute of Astrophysics was the Guest speaker. He explained about the different IIA sites in India, and followed it up with site description and a brief description on Ladakh IIA site. He spoke about solar magneto hydrodynamics (MHD): a theoretical study of MHD wave propagation in striated atmospheres. He presented his observations of chromospheres and coronal oscillations, density and temperature diagnostics in the solar atmosphere. 300 participants from the Astronomy Club attended this Guest Lecture enthusiastically.

To the Moon and Beyond (A Neil Armstrong Retrospective and Perspective)

The Department of Aeronautical Engineering, MVJCE, organized a Guest Lecture on ‘To the Moon and Beyond (A Neil Armstrong Retrospective and Perspective)’. Dr.Jayant Murthy, Director, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore was the Guest speaker. The session was held from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm, on 29.03.2019. The Lecture started with a brief introduction to the memorable Neil Armstrong video footage on the moon – the impact of Neil Armstrong as the First man on the moon, before and after sputnik. The lecture enabled students to enhance their understanding of the International Space Station, and the current technologies used in International space station. The guest lecture was attended by 105 members of the Astronomy Club, MVJCE.
