The Department of Civil Engineering, MVJCE, organized an Industrial Visit for Final Year students, to heritage site Rangasthala, Bangalore, on 2nd June 2023. Faculty members Prof. Shambhavi Tadkal, Prof. Vidhya Carmel and Prof. Leenu Paul accompanied the students. The main objective of the visit was to give a ‘field’ experience to students, on various Civil Engineering concepts.

At the outset, the site in-charge gave safety instructions. He also stressed the importance of preserving historical heritage sites. Following this, he enlightened the students about restoration work and maintenance of heritage sites. The students were then taken to the main temple – Rangasthala, where they learnt about filling of cracks, excavation, ground water recharge, lifting of pillars etc.

Event Outcome

The Field Visit gave students an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of Civil Engineering concepts, and co-relate their theoretical knowledge with practical aspects. This satisfies partly PO4 - Conduct Investigation on Complex Problems, PO5 - Modern Tool Usage, and PO12 - Lifelong Learning in the field of Civil Engineering.
