SRISHTI Club, Department of Civil Engineering, MVJCE, organized an event Civil Coding, on 21st January, 2023. The main objective of this event was to encourage students to look beyond their textual knowledge and co-relate the theories they learn in the classroom with the application of these learnt concepts. The event was conducted in Seminar Hall 5. 22 students and all the faculty members from the Civil Engineering department participated.

The Event comprised two rounds.

ROUND 1: Solving the given problem using excel coding (08.00 am – 10.00 am)

The students were divided into teams, with a maximum of four students in each team. They were given a problem statement with support conditions and structural details. Based on the details, the students had to calculate the reactions, bending moment and shear force using excel coding.

ROUND 2: Presentation of the result arrived at, to the Resource Person (10:00 am – 12:00 pm)

The students presented the results they had arrived at, to the Chief Guest Mrs. Praveena Das Jennifer, Scientist II, NIRM Bangalore.

Announcement of Result (12:10 pm – 01:10 pm)

The Chief Guest gave the Keynote Address, after which the results were announced.

Rules and Instructions

  • Those who get the maximum score will be placed higher in the rank list.
  • The decision of the organizers with respect to the results will be final. No queries in this regard will be entertained.
  • Any participant found to be indulging in any form of malpractice will be immediately disqualified.

Outcome of the Event

The event helped to foster a healthy interaction among participants. It helped them learn about Civil Coding, in detail. It kindled their ideas, and prompted them to deliver models with ecological relevance, through knowledge, skills and professional expertise.
