CLUB ACTIVITY ‘CHEM LIFE’ – ‘CHEMISTRY EXPO POSTER PRESENTATION’

The Department of Chemistry organized a Club activity entitled ‘CHEM LIFE’ on the topic ‘CHEMISTRY EXPO POSTER PRESENTATION’, on 4^th August, 2022, in Rooms 221 and 222, Chemistry Department. The event started at 10:45 am and ended at 4:00 pm. Students found the event very interesting, interactive and beneficial, and actively took part in this Club activity.

Round I: Power Point Presentation

In this Round, each group had to give a brief description about an Environmental problem, its causes and possible solutions, through a Power Point presentation. Eighteen teams actively participated in this Round which was for 1.30 hours, and all the teams were selected for Round II.

Round II: Poster Making and Presentation

In this Round, students made posters and expressed their ideas creatively. Round II started at around 2:00 pm and ended at 4:00 p.m. The students chose contemporary problems and came up with various solutions to it. The posters were rich in content and colourful. Some of the innovative topics like space debris littering, loss of biodiversity etc. were discussed.

The Chief Guest for the event was Dr. Parashuram.L ( Associate Professor , NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology). He has twelve years of teaching experience , published thirty six papers and has three patents on his name . He is also a life time Member of Institution of Engineers , India and Member of Institution of Scholars.

The winners for the event were selected by the Chief Guest Dr. Parashuram.L ( Associate Professor , NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology). The Winners are Ms. Khaja Bani Syed (1MJ21CS090) and Ms. Nandhushree (1MJ21CS128) from K section (Chemistry Cycle) and their topic was ‘Space Debris’. The Runners up are Ms. Akhila (1MJ21CS011), Ms. Jhanavi J.S (1MJ21CG028), Ms. Sandhya Singh (1MJ21EC121) and Qamreen (1MJ21CG045), who presented a poster on ‘Loss of Biodiversity’. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000 and the runner up team with a cash prize of Rs. 500. and Certificate of Appreciation. All the participants were given Certificates of Participation.

Outcome of the Event

The participants understood the importance of environment and the problems associated with the environment. The students presented their ideas in a unique way and made the posters in a novel way. The event helped in inculcating in them the ability to spot a problem, come up with solutions and present them innovatively.
