A talk on ‘No Life Without Water’ was organized to mark ‘World Water Day-2021’ by the Department of Civil Engineering, MVJCE, on 22nd March 2021, at 10:30 am, in Seminar Hall 4. All covid-related SOPs were followed. Around 45 students (UG and PG) and faculty members of the Department of Civil Engineering participated in this program. World Water Day is being celebrated on 22nd March every year, since 1993. It focuses on the importance of freshwater. World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness on the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. The core focus of World Water Day 2021 is to support the achievement of sustainable development, water and sanitation for all by 2030. Water is critical to all of our societies and economies. Water is needed for everything we produce, manufacture and use, and for our livelihoods. Hence, the objective of the talk was to create awareness on the importance of water, its necessity, and how it can be better protected.

He briefed the audience on the restoration and refilling of many water bodies in and around Bengaluru, and also the problems faced in that process. He presented many real time images and case studies, showing the struggle for and the need of fresh water. He urged the participants to take an oath to save water for the future generation, and create a fresh and clean environment - it is the responsibility of every citizen around the globe to be a part of this exercise, so that we can make this world a better place.

It was a very interesting and informative session.
