A Guest Lecture on ‘Radar and Signal Processing’ was organized by the ECE Department on 31st August 2019, at Smt. Rajalakshmi Auditorium from 9:30 am to 12:40 pm. The speakers were Dr. G N Rathna (Principal Research Scientist, IISc., Bengaluru) and Sri Vishnu O C (Scientist-E, LRDE, Bengaluru). The program was presided over by Dr. Nagaraj Sitaram (Principal, MVJCE), Prof. M Brindha (Vice Principal, MVJCE) and Prof. Vaman B Gudi (CoE & Registrar, MVJCE). The session started at 9.30 am with an invocation song and welcome address.
Dr. G N Rathna delivered an insightful talk on applications of digital signal processing, and some of its practical uses in the real world. Sri Vishnu O C explained about the prototyping of silent radars based on broadcast emission, ship-borne surveillance radars, and phased array radars. The talk helped the students to enhance their theoretical concepts, which would in turn, help them in their research activities.
All the faculty members of the ECE Department, and second, third and final year students f the Department attended the Guest Lecture. The talk ended by 12.40 pm.
Outcome of the Guest Lecture
The lecture on the topic ‘Digital Signal Processing and Radar Image Processing’ was excellent. The presentation contained several videos and Matlab real-time programs with results which caught the attention of the students and made it very effective.
