IEEE EMPERICA

On the occasion of Engineers Day, IEEE Student Branch of MVJ College of Engineering, conducted a technical competition – IEEE EMPERICA – on September 6th, 2019. In this college level technical competition, more than 40 teams, of around 120 students from different disciplines, participated.

The motive of the event was to encourage and hone the thinking capability of students. Students were allotted topics from various fields, and were asked to come up with a suitable problem statement, with a possible solution for the same. The evaluation of the participants was based on their creativity, problem solving skills and presentation. The topics given to the students were challenging ones, from diverse domains such as Medical Electronics, Cyber Security, Disaster Management, Automation, Biometric Recognition, Forensic and Virtual Reality. Out of the 40 teams, the top 8 teams were shortlisted for the final round by the faculty judges. From the top 8 teams, the best teams were considered for top 3 places, based on their problem statement complexity, feasibility of the solution, and presentation skills.

Mohith Yadav and Team from the ECE Department secured the 1st place for identifying problems and providing solutions in the area of Biometric Recognition. They were awarded a Cash Prize of Rs. 1500-/-. Deeksha Rudrawal and Team from the CSE Department secured the 2nd place for their presentation on implementation of technology in the domain of Agriculture irrigation, to enhance organic yield. Akhil and Team from the CSE Department secured the 3rd place for their ideas on Fault interview systems in the Human Resource domain. The 2nd and 3rd place students were awarded with Cash Prizes of Rs. 1000 and 500, respectively.

Outcome of the Event

This technical event encouraged students to identify and develop innovative ideas for various technical problems. It also stimulated entrepreneurial thinking. The students were able to showcase their knowledge and implement engineering ideas.
