The Department of Information Science and Engineering organized a workshop on Software Defined Vehicle on 24th June 2023, at the college auditorium. The event started at 10:00 am and concluded at 12:30 pm. 200 students from the IV semester of the Dept. of ISE and CSE (Data Science) attended the event.

Chief Guest Anitha Loganathan, Engineering Group Manager at Aptiv India Components Pvt. Ltd. inaugurated the event and enlightened the students on the development in the automobile sector.

In recent years, automobiles have witnessed a remarkable transformation, with rapid advancements in technology propelling them into the era of smart cars. From autonomous driving capabilities to integrated connectivity features, these vehicles are revolutionizing the way we perceive and interact with automobiles.

As technology continues to advance at a rapid pace, cars are evolving into highly sophisticated and intelligent machines. The integration of connectivity, advanced driver assistance systems, autonomous driving capabilities, infotainment features, and data analytics have transformed the automotive industry. Smart cars offer enhanced safety, convenience, and efficiency while paving the way for a future of connected and autonomous transportation.

About the workshop by chief guest Ms.Anitha Loganathan

Our guest speaker has been a part of automotive for several years and this event helped the students to gain knowledge from our chief guest. The event was started by our speaker asking the students their views on what they first analyse while buying a car, which grabbed the students’ attention and the event began with good interaction between the speaker and the students.

Ms.Anitha Loganathan , the guest speaker spoke about how cars should be made and shared an insight into how rapidly cars are developing and how are they revolutionizing the whole industry. She shared her view on how cars can be made smart. Certain features can be added, such as adding ‘Alexa’ (Voice assistant) for communication and to control the car, providing the car camera feed straight to our mobile for better safety purposes, and various other measures.

The guest speaker detailed about the company she has been leading as a Engineering Group Manager in Aptiv India Components Pvt Ltd, and how her company is helping in making cars smarter. Volvo has been the biggest customer of the company and they are in partnership with Hyundai to develop smart car.

At the end of the event, in the question and answer session, students raised their queries and the chief guest provided answers with solutions.

Post the speaker’s session, student activity took place which consisted of three rounds.

The 1st round was conducted in the auditorium in which all the students participated. An online form was provided to the students which consisted of 25 questions which consisted questions from various fields such as mental ability, coding, the latest technology trend, and out of which 30 students had qualified for round 2.

The 2nd round took place in the information science department lab, in which the qualified students were given 12 questions based on decoding and output with Java and C, and out of which 10 students with precise answers and the minimum time taken had qualified for the third round.

The 3rd round consisted of 10 participants among whom the winner and runners up were declared. The third round went on for about 30 minute in which participants were asked to code based on the questions given.

At the end of third round Ija Jayadurga(1MJ21CD017) was declared the winner and Preethi Shyam (1MJ21CD037) was declared the runner up.

Outcome of the Event:

By the end of the event, students realized the potential of growth in automobile industry and also the software opportunities in automotive industry.
