Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of MVJ College of Engineering, organized and conducted a seminar on Design thinking and Innovation on 2nd Dec 2021, to motivate students to come up with innovative ideas for projects and business proposals. In this event students learnt about importance of skills and mindsets of an engineer involved in innovative works and implementation.

The event was held from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM on 2nd Dec 2021. Mr. Bhanuteja G, Assistant Professor, ECE conducted this session and total of 40 students from 3rd year, ECE participated in the event. He explained about difference between Design thinking, critical thinking, analytical thinking, and reflective thinking. He mentioned about different parameters involved in design process.

Bhanuteja also explained about innovation process, innovation models and gaps, students interacted how the models can be applied in their idea creation process and implementation steps. He mentioned about innovation funnel which includes success/failure ratio. He also mentioned about POEMS, five major things to be considered during designing and implementing innovative ideas.

Outcome:

  • The students understood difference between thinking, how institute provides support for innovative ideas.
  • Students could understand the importance of various parameters involved in innovation process and POEMS.
  • As a long-term benefit, the students got an opportunity to gain idea about how to approach for designing and implementing innovative ideas and interaction with expert for submission of ideas
