Guest Lecture on ‘Art of Literature Survey in Research Work’

A Guest Lecture on ‘Art of Literature Survey in Research Work’ was organized by Department of Chemical Engineering, MVJCE, on 19.04.202 from 10:30 am to 12.30 pm, in Seminar Hall 6, MVJCE. The Guest Speaker for the event was Dr. Ujjwal Sreenag Meda, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, RVCE, Bangalore. The lecture was attended by 70 participants (faculty and students) of MVJCE.

About the Speaker

Dr. Ujjwal S Meda is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, RVCE, Bangalore.

He secured his B.E. from Siddhaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur, and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from TU/e, The Netherlands. He has also completed Doctor of Philosophy in Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. His research interests lie, broadly, in Nano technology, Process and Product design, Bulk Solids handling, Process integration, Modelling and Simulation, Alternate fuels and fuel cells. Dr. Ujjwal S Meda has published papers in over nine international journals and twenty-seven international conferences and got a DST-funded project in April 2018.

A Brief Account of the Lecture

The session started with the welcome address by Dr. Mahabaleswarappa, Principal, MVJCE. After welcoming the students and the Guest Speaker, he pointed out why literature review is important for final year and pre-final year students for their project review and for building a successful career in Chemical Engineering.

Faculty Participation in Blood Donation Camp

Dr. Ujjwal S Meda began his Lecture on ‘Art of Literature Review’ with a detailed description, right from selecting the topic to getting it published in an esteemed journal. He explained how to write a review paper, starting with the introduction which includes the topic definition, purpose for selection of the topic and the overall trend, followed by the theme, chronology and methodology, major contributions of our findings and opinion for future scope.

The Speaker outlined the steps for publishing the paper, like deciding the area of research, finding the relevant excerpts, coding the literature, and creating a conceptual scheme. He gave ideas on how to make data correlation using excel sheet. He concluded by describing the tools for literature using the Mendeley software, by tabbing in the papers for convenient access to standard styles and references

After the presentation, a Q&A session was conducted and the Speaker addressed the queries of attendees are clarified them

The event concluded with vote of thanks to the MVJ management, Principal, COE and Vice Principal of MVJCE for providing this opportunity to students to gain knowledge on the art of literature review in Chemical Engineering.
